Wausau’s Woodson Art Museum
Whether you’re here on a quick business trip or an extended stay, you absolutely should not miss your chance to visit the extraordinary Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. The Woodson Art Museum has a permanent collection of historic and contemporary paintings, graphics and sculptures, 
most of which focus on birds and nature. The grounds of the museum also feature elegant garden spaces dotted with a variety of sculptures, all which seem to take on a new life as the seasons change.
Running through the end of March at the Woodson Art Museum is a temporary Student Art Exhibition, featuring the works of north central Wisconsin students in grades 9-12. In addition to that, the museum’s current exhibits include New to the Collection pieces, On the Wing: Birds in Flight, and Fowl Play: Decorative Duck Decoys. Some new installations are also coming in early March. The first is a National Geographic exhibition titled Rarely Seen: Photographs of the Extraordinary, and the other is My Friend Eric Rohmann.
In September, the Woodson Art Museum proudly displays the annual Birds in Art exhibit. Birds in Art has been on display every year since 1976, and features a comprehensive collection of contemporary artistic interpretations of birds. This year’s Birds in Art exhibit is set to begin on September 8, 2018, and will run through November 25, 2018.
