Your Guide to The Woodson Art Museum

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is one place you absolutely should not miss during your stay in Wausau. 2020 Birds In Art Exhibit

In September of 2020, the Woodson Art Museum will be host to the annual Birds in Art Exhibit, which has been generously displayed every year since 1976. This incredible exhibit stays on display from September 12 – November 29, 2020. Billed as a great way to do “indoor birdwatching,” this incredible exhibit features of a range of birds artistically portrayed in a variety of mediums.

As always, admission to the annual Birds in Art display is free. The Woodson Art Museums’s 2020 Master Artist will be Timothy David Mayhew of New Mexico. His works have been showcased around the world and he is most well known for his impressive study of birds in their natural habitat, where he studies not just the landscapes, but the beautiful animals that inhabit them. His intricate knowledge and observation shine through in his works. According to the author, the biggest influencer on his works has been artist Bob Kuhn, who also greatly appreciates the role of direct observation in producing his artistic works.

Mayhew is the 39th master artist for the Birds in Art exhibit and will be present to discuss his artwork during his MasterArtist presentation on September 12 during the opening morning festivities.

In total, the Birds in Art exhibit will feature the works of just over 100 artists, including some of the most respected and renowned in their fields in the world.
