Three Great Breweries in Wausau
Wausau, Wisconsin, home to popular attractions like Rib Mountain State Park, Granite Peak Ski Area, Wausau Whitewater, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, and a number of other great attractions, is also home to three incredible breweries. The hand-crafted brews being turned out by these local breweries are a welcome and refreshing way to end an afternoon spent exploring this region. The most popular of Wausau’s breweries is Bulls Falls Brewery. It was the first distributing microbrewery in the state of Wisconsin and still brews in the old German traditions brought over by Wisconsin’s first immigrants. Their brewery is open for tours on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Otherwise, visit their taproom, open seven days a week, and sample their famous beer. They also have a regular calendar of events, and occasional live music to enjoy. You can even 
take some of their beer home with you, as they now can select beer at their canning facility.
Another popular brewery in Wausau is the Red Eye Brewing Company. They offer a delicious array of beers that can only be found here, such as their vanilla-infused “Up Nort’ Brew-Ski” bock beer. Their menu features plenty of great food options as well, including their famous wood-fired pizzas or IPA-infused ribs. Finally, enjoy the beers, food, and ambiance at Great Dane Pub and Brewing Company. Wausau’s version of this popular chain of brewpubs was the first of their brewpub to be opened outside of the Madison area, where their flagship is located. The food and beer here are wonderful, made even better by the 100-seat outdoor beer garden.
